My favourite TV shows 2021 (Netflix/Prime/..)

Netflix aficionados, my unrequested ratings for my favorite 2020 seasons:
  • POTUS S8: 9/10. Amazing finale with unexpected Capitol Hill attack. Finale is a bit obvious. Characterization of the villain is a bit flat. But it kept us glued to the screen. Remember the Wall of Mexico in S4? Wow. I nearly forgot how it all started, with Obama mike drop in S1E01.
  • The Boys S2. 10/10. The whale scene is a stroke of genius. Homelander is much better characterized than Trump. Love it.
  • Brexit S7. 7/10. A much more nuanced political drama. the authors decided to have a different villain in each season. While I really loved the characterization of Ms May (the dance part was brilliant) and of the blonde buffoon (a bit copied from POTUS but with some nice gags on its own), I think the authors could have developed Nigel a bit better - these shallow villains are sooooo 80s. I believe S1 was so much better with Palpatine-style David Cameron.
  • Vlad S22. 9/10. Great action/political drama. The authors got it right where Designated survivors authors didnt: a perfect mix of Secret services, poisonings, espionage, fake news creation in St Petersburg, ... the geopolitical developments in Crimea, Libia and Iran are very credible - plus themes like global warming and fake news: a very nuanced leader and captivating plot. Why not a 10, you're asking? I really dont like series who protract forever: S22 now and I heard the authors just confirmed another 15 (15!) seasons until 2036.
  • Kobra Kai S3. 5/10. Started as a 10/10 with S1, dropped to an 8 on S2, its now getting ridiculous. Good news is, I can sleep at night whjile waiting for S4 as I know there will be a 5 and god knows how many more. I prefer Elizabeth Shue in The Boys, but always great to see her! Probably best actress of the series.
  • Silvio S2. I heard they're resuming this old blockbuster for a second season. This time maybe in the form of Mr President. I hope they don't copy from POTUS (which - the authors confirmed on interview - was actually inspired by Silvio S1!).
